AYSO Region 104
Serving Albuquerque’s youth since 1978, AYSO Region 104 is the largest recreational youth soccer organization in the city. With the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, we provide soccer programs for over 2,500 players, ages 4 to 19.
We are part of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), a national nonprofit that has been shaping youth soccer in the U.S. since 1964. AYSO was founded with two key goals:
1. Promote soccer for American youth. If you’ve driven around Albuquerque and seen fields filled with players, you know this mission has been a success!
2. Improve the youth sports experience. AYSO believes every child deserves to play, learn, and grow in a fun, supportive environment, not one where only a few kids make the team.
At AYSO, every player gets a chance to play and thrive.
Our mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs that emphasize fun, teamwork, and player development. Our approach is guided by AYSO’s Six Core Philosophies:
Everyone Plays: Every child gets time on the field—no one sits on the bench!
Balanced Teams: Teams are formed to ensure fairness and a positive experience for all.
Open Registration: Soccer is for everyone—no tryouts or exclusions.
Positive Coaching: We focus on encouragement, skill-building, and teamwork.
Player Development: Every player is given the tools to improve and succeed.
Good Sportsmanship: Respect, integrity, and teamwork are at the heart of AYSO.
These values shape everything we do, ensuring that youth soccer is about more than just the game—it’s about building character, confidence, and lifelong memories.
WHat We Believe
Founded in 1964 in a garage in Torrance, California, AYSO started with just nine teams and a vision to give every child access to soccer. Today, AYSO has:
• Thriving programs in nearly 900 communities across the U.S.
• International programs in the Virgin Islands and Trinidad & Tobago
• More than 8 million alumni who have grown through AYSO soccer
• A reputation as a leader in youth soccer development
From recreational leagues to advanced programs, AYSO continues to make a difference in communities nationwide.
A National Legacy
AYSO runs on volunteer power, from coaches and referees to board members and organizers.
• Every local program is led by registered volunteers.
• Our National Board of Directors, National President, Regional Commissioners, coaches, and referees are all volunteers.
• Thousands of volunteers donate their time each season to keep AYSO running successfully.
Because of this strong volunteer network, AYSO remains a community-driven and family-friendly organization.
Powered by Volunteers
AYSO is organized into three levels to ensure that every community receives the support it needs:
1. National Level
The AYSO National Office, based in Torrance, California, supports all local programs and provides guidance, training, and resources for players, families, and volunteers.
2. Regional, Area & Section Levels
• Regions: Local community-based leagues (like AYSO Region 104 in Albuquerque).
• Areas: A group of nearby Regions working together for league management.
• Sections: The U.S. is divided into 14 geographic Sections that oversee multiple Areas and Regions.
Each Region is led by a volunteer Regional Commissioner and Board, ensuring that every community has a well-organized and player-focused soccer program.

At AYSO Region 104, we’re more than just a soccer league, we’re a community that values teamwork, growth, and having fun. Whether you’re a player, a coach, a referee, or a volunteer, we welcome you to be part of the AYSO experience!
